Telephone Number - TN Settings

How to update Ring Tones and DISA settings

Your Telephone numbers are added to your NEWT Business Phone by NEWT. Most settings are already pre-programmed, and some adjustments can be made on the Telephone Number Tab - Main Screen

However, some detailed configurations are completed within the Details screen on each Telephone Number.

Begin by navigating to the TN Tab from the PBX Main Screen. Navigate to the telephone number you want to configure. Clicking on the Pencil Icon at the end of row will guide you into the details screen of that Telephone Number.

TN DETAILS

There are several tabs within the TN Details window for configuration options. In this article, we'll review addition settings within the TN Settings Sub Tab.

Basic Info

Description – This field indicates the internal description for the purpose of this phone number.

Ring Type – Choose how you want this TN to sound, from the drop-down menu. Similar to a visual prefix, this feature can be helpful for audio distinction of which number was called to reach the user.

Caller Name Prefix – For inbound calls, otherwise known as “prepend”, this column indicates what information will show to the employee answering the phone. If multiple business names are on one PBX and only one receptionist, the Prefix will appear in front of the incoming caller ID on the receptionist’s phone display. This will assist a receptionist in knowing how to answer incoming calls.

Dial Sel Prefix – For outbound calls, if a different Outbound Phone Number needs to be shown when making outgoing calls, a Dial Prefix can be used. Assign the Prefix code for this number. By entering this code before making your outbound call, this Phone Number (and it's Caller Name) will be shown.

Note regarding Telephone number Caller ID (CNAM) - Caller ID's are set up at the time of loading Telephone Numbers to the PBX. Caller Names can only be entered or updated by NEWT. Please contact NEWT Support for updates.

DISA (Direct Inward System Access)

This is a feature that allows the users to call into the system from an outside line and place calls as if they were local to the system, thus being able to benefit from the long-distance rates on the system or to disguise their caller ID - showing instead, this telephone number.

To utilize the DISA feature you must have an auto attendant “Always Enabled” on one of the phone numbers on the PBX.

Enabled – Toggle this to “On” to turn on the DISA feature for this Telephone Number.

Code – Enter a 4-digit code that you want users to use, when calling in.

Caller ID – Choose which Caller ID you want shown, when the employee uses this feature to make long-distance calls from the system.

DISA Authorized Phone Numbers - The incoming number must be authorized to access the system. Enter the Authorized Telephone Numbers allowed to use this feature.

  1. Click on the Add button.

  2. Enter the users phone number.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Enter the description.

  5. Always ensure you save the changes! Then click on Save and Update from the main screen to publish.
