Messages

Users can use the Messages feature to chat and send instant messages and media files to coworkers instead of calling them.

TEXT Messaging can be enabled on NEWT MOBILE or NEWT DESKTOP APPS and Group Texting is offered as well, as an additional paid feature (see below texting information).

Use the following steps to send a chat message:

1. Select Start Chat  on the Main window.

2. Under the New Chat pane, select the contact. The contact name and extension are displayed in the right pane.

3. Select the Start Chat button.

 After composing messages, select Send.

Adding Files:

Users can exchange media files (documents, photos, and audio files) with other users within the companies phone environment. Also, they can download, delete, and forward these media files. The maximum media file size is 32MB.

1. Select the Attach  icon in the text field. A file explorer window displays.

2. Navigate to the location storing the files.

3. Select file(s) to attach.

4. (Optional) Enter text in the text field.

5. Select Send .

   Note: To remove any file, select the Delete  icon before sending it out.

Texting

TEXT Messaging can be enabled on NEWT MOBILE or NEWT DESKTOP APPS and Group Texting is offered as well.

This included an assigned texting phone number added to the extension, or group of extensions and allows the capability of SMS and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) to send messages containing media beyond standard text, including images (JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF), audio files and longer text messages up to 1,600 characters.

Note that size of file transfer is dependant on the limitations as set by the Cell Provider. Because of strict carrier limits, high-resolution media will be heavily compressed. Services usually allow ~600K-1.3M files. 

Deleting Messages

1. Select Message from the left navigation menu.

2. Under the MESSAGES pane, right-click the conversation.

3. Select Delete all messages.

Note: Users can also select the Trash  icon at the top right corner on the right pane.

Caution! By selecting Delete complete history, all records across the application will be removed, including quick dial contact records.
