NEWT DESKTOP - Keypad and Call Handling

Making a Call
Use this application to place a call by dialing an extension or external phone number or by selecting from the existing contact lists or history call logs.
To make calls, check out this video or view the steps below:
New Calls
Select Keypad from the left navigation menu.
Enter the phone number or the extension.
Select the Call button below the keypad to initiate the call.
Quick Dials
If you have created Quick Dials already, select your quick dial from the list below the keypad.
The call will immediatley be initiated.
Contacts
Select Contacts from the left navigation menu.
There are two options from the drop-down menu at the top.
Quick dials are the contacts you have manually entered.
Global Directoy is a list of extensions on your NEWT Business phone system and external listings your administrator may have added.
Use the Search icon or scroll to select the contact’s name. The contact information is displayed in the right pane.
Select the Call button to initiate the call.
Call History
Select History from the left navigation menu.
In the CALLS pane, search and select the contact’s name. The conversation log displays on the right pane.
Select the Call button at the top of the contact card.
Answering Calls
This application rings when someone calls the users. When receiving a phone call, the right pane displays the caller's information. To answer or dismiss the call:
Select the Call button to answer the call.
Select the End Call button to decline the call.
Select the Mute icon to turn on or off the microphone before answering the call.
Select the Audio icon to change the speaker, microphone, and sound settings.
Call Handling During Calls
During calls you can perform 3-way calling, switch calls, hold calls, record calls, complete transfers, conference and utilize DTMF for access to “in call” key prompts (you are in a call and the prompt tells you to “press 1 for sales” as an example).

Placing a Call on Hold
Touch the Hold button on the call screen.
Touch this button again to resume the call.
Making Transfers
Use Blind to initiate an unattended transfer. Unattended transfer, also known as cold or blind transfer, is when you transfer a call to another destination without establishing a conversation with this new call recipient. The call is put on hold until transferred successfully.
To make an unattended transfer:
On an active call, select the Blind icon in the call pane. The call is placed on hold and the phone number field of the Keypad pane displays Transfer call.
To transfer the call to another person, navigate to the keypad and dial, or choose from your quick dial list below. Once the call goes through, you are dropped from the call.
Note: A dialogue box displays the message “The transfer has failed” if the new recipient does not answer the call. Select the Cancel X icon, and then repeat steps 1 and 2.
To make an attended transfer:
On an active call, select the Attend icon on the right pane. The call is placed on hold and the phone number field of the Keypad pane displays Transfer call.
To transfer the call to another person, follow the steps in the Making a Call section.
Speak with the new call recipient when the new call is answered. Note: If the new recipient does not answer the call, the right pane displays that the first call is still on hold.
Select the Complete Transfer icon to transfer the call. The right pane displays Transfer in progress when the transfer is successful.
To cancel the unattended call operation, select the Cancel X icon.

Switching Calls
All concurrent calls are visible underneath the dialer. The title displays the statuses of the calls.
To switch to another call, select the desired call. The call is displayed on the right pane.
To pause or resume a call, see the Placing a Call on Hold section.
To answer a new incoming call, select the Answer icon.
To dismiss a new incoming call, select the End Call icon.
3 Way or Conference Calls
To form a conference call:
On an active call, select the Add call icon. The phone number field of the Keypad pane displays Add call.
Make a new call. The first call goes on hold.
Select the Merge icon when the second recipient answers the call. The right pane indicates a conference call is formed.
To add more people, repeat steps 1 to 3.
To dismiss a conference call, select the End Call button.
