How to Manage E911: For NEWTCF Administrators

The E911 Dispatch Information table can be edited just like a spreadsheet. Changeable fields have a lighter background and contain the contact information used to locate an extension based on its outbound caller ID.

The main telephone number, which is defined using the Main TN toggle in the TNs tab, always appears in this list. This entry contains the default information sent to the E911 provider for all extensions that do not have caller IDs with distinct E911 enabled.

Telephone Numbers that have distinct E911 enabled also appear in the list. This feature allows for multiple location e911 services.

  1. To add a Distinct E911 Telephone number to your E911 list, navigate back to the TN Tab and toggle on the Distinct E911 in the targeted phone number.

  2. Then navigate back to this tab and update the address information (in-line editing).

  3. The First Name field is only applicable for residential locations.

Ensure that user extensions at the location have their Outbound ID set to this TN, so that 911 is dispatched correctly.

  1. Navigate to the Extension tab and click on the pencil icon at the end of the targeted extension line item, to edit.

  2. In the Outbound Caller ID field, select the E911 TN from the drop-down list.

  3. If you want the extension user’s outbound caller ID to reflect the main PBX default TN, rather than the DID selected for E911, you can toggle on “Only for E911 Calls”.
