What is a Unified Extension?

A unified extension (sometimes referred to as twinning) is an extension that allows other extensions to be grouped to it. Once joined, all extensions unified, behave as a single extension. Voicemails will sit with the "main" extension, along with other features and settings (such as call flow or caller ID).

To identify unified extensions in the Administrative panel, navigate to the Extensions tab. Unified extension information is visible in the two "Unified Ext" columns located in the list. The "Main" column contains a check mark for extensions that are main extensions, and the "Unified to" column contains the associated subordinate extension. In the screenshot below, extension 460 (subordinate) is unified to extension 501 (main).
