Text messaging with your NEWT MOBILE

With your NEWT Mobile App, this advanced functionality supports inbound and outbound text messaging with external numbers across North America. * Additional purchase required.

Your mobile extension will be assigned an additional phone number for texting purposes only.

Once NEWT has completed the configuration, you can now text to any SMS-enabled phone device, using the apps Messages feature. Your Outbound Caller ID for texting will reflect the assigned phone number.

How to send a text in your NEWT Mobile App:

  1. Tap the Messages Icon at the bottom of the app

  2. Tap the New Message Icon

  3. Enter the phone number in the To: field or tap the + button to select a contact from your synced mobile address book

  4. Type your message in the bottom line and tap the paper airplane icon beside it, to send.

If it fails to send, this may be because you aren't connected to wifi or cellular service at the moment, or the phone number you are trying to send a text to, is not sms enabled and therefore cannot receive texts. Additionally, note that SMS Text Messaging is supported to Canada & US external numbers, and excludes:

  • Numbers in high-cost regions of NU, YT, NT, HI, AK & VI

  • International Numbers
