Global Directory
A common external contacts directory for your staff

The Global Directory feature allows you to enter or upload external contacts to the contact directory on desk phones and softphones. This is a useful feature for common external contacts that your staff often needs to call.

  1. Navigate to the Global Directory -> Global Settings Sub tab in your NEWTCF environment.

To add individual contacts manually:

  1. To add a contact, click the Add button

  2. Fill in the First Name and Last Name and click Add

  3. Then add the Phone Number

  4. Click the Save button

  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 to add additional contacts

  6. When all desired contacts have been added, click the save and update button to publish, then proceed to reboot your phones.

Global Directory

 To add contacts in bulk via an upload file:

  1.  Begin by downloading the template (CSV file) for correct attributes and formatting for upload

  2. Enter all your contact details into the template and save it to your computer files

  3. Click on Choose File and select the file

  4. Choose “New Only” or “Overwrite All” and click the upload button. “New Only” allows you to continually utilize the same file to re-upload with any additions you need to, without having to worry about losing, changing, or overwriting what is already there

  5. Once the upload is complete, click on the Save and Update button to publish

Next, you will need to update any desk phones to capture the new listings:

  1. Power cycle the phone by unplugging the power supply (or if PoE, unplugging the ethernet cable) and plugging it back in. 

Note: If the Global Directory contact list exceeds the number of contacts allowed per phone, the contacts may not appear on the phone.
