A Pick-up group is set up to allow users to answer another ringing extension, directly from their own phone.
For example, if a team member is away from their desk and across the room when their phone rings, their teammate can pick up the call on their own phone.
How to set up a Pick-Up Group
Adding extensions to a pickup group is a simple as navigating to the extension settings for each extension and selecting the same “Pickup Group” number for each of them. You can add up to 9 pick-up groups.
As the administrator in your NEWTCF environment, navigate to the extension tab
Clicking on the pencil icon beside the extension line item will bring you to the Extension Details screen where you can adjust single extension details
Navigate down to the Groups section
Select a pickup group number from the drop-down menu
Repeat this process for each extension to assign them to this same pickup group number. Note that you can give this extension access to a different pickup group also, by toggling on the other pickup group access number.
Once a pickup group is set up, the teammate can take the call by dialing *4 and entering the extension # of where the call is currently ringing to.
